How old is my fjord 27

Hello is there any way of finding out how old my fjord 27 is?

Hi John.

Have you found any manufacture plate with a buildnumber on it in your boat?
Usually it is a small red metal plate marked "Fjord Plast a/s with a numberserie punched in it "
With that number it can be possible to figure it out, one of the buildnumber stands for year in the 1970s if I remember right.

Hi John, it´s probably very hard to tell the exact year of make if the manufacturers plate is gone. That´s my problem since the whole interior in my 27 was rebuilt by previous owners. I keep searching whenever I dissemble parts of it for maintenance. However, there´s something about the number of bollards on foredeck, a single indicates a pre-1974 build, but don´t take it for granted. I got that from looking at numerous photos and meeting other Selcruisers through the last four years. If you find an other way to determine the year of make when the plate is history, let me know.

Another sign is the colour of the side air intake covers. Blue => Selco era pre 1970-71, Green => Fjord era post 1971

I was hoping for cepe in this matter. I also noticed the different colours on the air intake covers but thought that was personal styling by the owners My problem remains since my boat has gone through a complete paintjob, everything is in cream. It seems, from some minor damage, that originally the hull was yellow. To me it´s a crime to remove the ID-plate and not replace it, no matter if you have to put it somewhere else, it´s an important detail in any boat. My insurance company would love to know the productioncode of my hull...sorry.

Hi all,

Missing ID plates is a common problem of all older Fjord boats. Unfortunately even with an ID plate the identification is difficult as the way Fjord put together serial numbers differs from year to year. Some of the boats like the Fjord 27 crusier was a inheritance from another manufacturer in this case Selco. If someone knows anything about Selco numbering it is of high interested to Fjordclub.

During at least the 70ths the Fjord boats was numbered in this way:
First two numbers = boat model example 30= Fjord 24 Weekender
Third number = year of manufacturing 1=1971
The numbers after third number = serial number
301046 Means Fjord 24 Weekender

Known model numbers is:
10 = Fjord 21 DC
20 = Fjord 21 Weekender
21 = Fjord 21 HT
30 = Fjord 24 Weekender
30 = Fjord 775SE
40 = Fjord 24 Attache
50 = Fjord 815 SSE
18 = Fjord 775 Dolphin
7 = Fjord 900 Dolphin
24 = Fjord 975 Dolphin

In the 80ths the Fjord boat had a different buildup of the serial numbers
First two numbers = boat model
Then serial number
Last two numbers indicate manufacturing year
Example:
5023 84 = model 50 Fjord 815 SSE, serial number 23, manufactured in 1984.

A yellow hulled Fjordcruiser points to the last years of production. I've only seen this in brochures dated 1976 and later. In the Fjord brochure of 1980 the Fjordcruiser is out of the model range.
